Why we consciously decided against chasteberry and mugwort

We carefully select the right ingredients for our oxymel-based teas and herbal extracts. Not only efficacy, but also tolerability and safety play a key role. We have deliberately excluded chasteberry and mugwort – and here you can find out why.
Mugwort: Risk instead of gentle support
Mugwort is often valued as a traditional medicinal plant, but it carries significant risks. As a strong allergen, it can trigger severe reactions such as itching or respiratory difficulties in sensitive individuals. Furthermore, its essential oils contain active ingredients that can have a profound effect on the uterus. This can lead to undesirable side effects, especially in sensitive users.
Instead, we rely on mild but effective herbs that gently and reliably support the cycle without taking unnecessary risks.
Monk's pepper: Not suitable for everyone
Chasteberry is often recommended as a cure-all for hormonal imbalances. Its effect is based on influencing prolactin levels—this can be helpful in certain cases, such as menstrual problems caused by excess prolactin.
However, this specific effect makes it unnecessary or even counterproductive for many women, especially if there are no prolactin-related symptoms. In addition, chasteberry is fat-soluble and does not dissolve effectively in water or vinegar-honey mixtures, such as those used in oxymels. As a result, a large portion of its active ingredients remain unused.
Our alternative: gentle and safe support
We want to offer products that are suitable and safe for as many people as possible. Instead of relying on herbs with potential side effects, such as mugwort and chasteberry, we rely on proven, gentle alternatives. These can provide effective support without the risk of unnecessary complications. Our philosophy is to be transparent and make informed decisions. There are too many products on the market that are not comprehensively explained and ultimately prove more counterproductive than helpful for many people. We want to avoid that!
